About Johanna

I live and work in Gothenburg, Sweden. The design world has been my home for many many years now and still is but since 2017 I also show and sell my paintings. Things happened in life and I realized I really wanted painting to be a bigger part of me so I decided to embrace that.

I work mainly with acrylics on both paper and canvas. My artwork is semi abstract or just abstract, colours play a very important role. I love using spatulas, especially when working on paper. They make me able to work with layers in an interesting way and variate the layers from very thin and even to thick and texturized to create both delicate and bold differences in colour and depth.

Images and colours effects me profoundly. For me painting is like having a conversation, a debate, a laugh or a struggle between me, the paint and the canvas. Every painting is quite emotional and challenging but also rewarding and enjoyable. In some way it is rather contradictory. I paint because I want to but the journey of creation is like an emotional rollercoaster. But I have learnt to trust the process and that is the beauty of it all.
